To qualify for the APFP designation, individuals must meet the requirements regarding Education, Experience and Ethics. There is no Examination requirement.

APFP applicants must:

Successfully complete two modules of the IFPHK Registered CFP^CM Certification Education Program which must include the Foundation of Financial Planning (Module 1) OR possess qualified credentials OR possess overseas CFP certification.

Possess the following number of years of relevant work experience and corresponding education requirement:

2 years for degree holders; OR
4 years for non-degree holders who have a minimum of 5 passes in HKCEE; OR
5 years for applicants who have completed Form 5 education.

Adhere to the Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibility of IFPHK.
Acquire 15 hours of Continuing Education credit per year.

are certification marks owned outside the U.S. by Financial Planning Standards Board Ltd.(FPSB).
The Institute of Financial Planners of Hong Kong Limited (IFPHK), is the marks licensing authority for the CFP marks in Hong Kong and Macau, through agreement with FPSB.
